The Painting of "Evening"
/This painting is done on a 30x30x1.5 gallery wrapped canvas. I had in mind before beginning a landscape type format with a ribbon of light coming through. I actually used a Wolf Kahn painting as an example for the concept and color combination.
The color combination for this piece is a triadic combination of blue-green, red-violet and yellow-orange. I used blue-green as my dominant color, red-violet as my non-dominant color and the yellow-orange as my accent color. As you can see from the palette picture at the beginning of the video I am using quite a few beautiful colors (and color mixtures) to develop this piece. The colors used include: Hansa Yellow Light, Indian Yellow, Mars Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Fluorescent Magenta, Quinacridone Magenta, Cobalt Violet, Light Violet, Dioxazine Purple, Permanent Violet, Cobalt Turquoise, Viridian, Minty Green (custom color mixture) and Titanium White.
There is quite a bit of the painting process not shown on the video. I had the initial look and feel captured in the video, but then spent a good bit of time completing the details and adding thick paint to the dark value areas.
You can see the painting HERE. or I have it shown below in a larger size.
