The Painting of "Alive Again"

The Painting of "Alive Again"

I hope you enjoy watching this painting videos as much as I did making it! The colors and the music really get me going.

I start this piece with some Payne's Gray (looks like black) to create my darkest values. I then add various colors and values of red and green for a simple complementary color combination. I always tell myself to keep the color selections simple for greater visual effect.

I experiment as I go, mixing the reds and greens together to get various warm and cool grays. I don't have a plan, I just go where the composition and colors take me. There is a constant back and forth conversation between artist and canvas, as it should be when one is painting in the moment.

Enjoy!
