Abstract Painting Process-Part 3
This is video 3 in a 6-part series illustrating my abstract painting process from start to finish. You will see me paint this piece in real time. It is spread over 6 videos, but the actual painting sessions are not edited (unless I spend too much time looking without any action), but none of the painting sequences are edited. I am also talking to you the entire time about what I am doing.
I begin by laying in some middle value color, thinking about the shapes I am creating. I am applying the colors randomly, knowing that I want a chromatic dominance of blue-green. I then lay in my dark value color, which is Anthraquinone Blue, commonly called Indigo. (You can make indigo by mixing Ultramarine Blue and Black). I like to have my center of interest color, in this painting yellow-green, next to my dark value colors for maximum visual impact, so I lay in a bit of my accent color. I conclude this video by adding a bit of white near my center of interest areas and blend a few edges of shapes as I go.
