The Painting of "Midnight in the Garden 4"
The "Midnight in the Garden" series is one of my favorites - and a favorite of collectors too. The concept for the series is to use dark, rich violets and blues to create the feeling of late night when darkness begins to overcome you but there is still enough light from the moon to see. The yellows, dark oranges and muted greens represent the garden elements.
I have used both color and value to help set the mood for the painting. The colors, mostly blues and violets, and the values are in the the dark-middle to dark range.
Join me in the studio for this over-the-shoulder view of my painting prcess. For those that may not know, there is no pre-planning other than selecting the colors I use before I begin. The painting is done spontaneously relying on intuition and experience.
